Death Note 5 came out and it was predictably awesome. we also started watching Eureka 7 and i can't decide if i like it or not. it's kinda cool, i guess. i've done a couple more tracks that will, tentatively, be the Light CD. they sound a lot more grimy and unpolished, which is what i'm going for this time around, i think.

nerd news: two crappy strat runs were made up for by some awesome progress in silithus (6 abyssal crests yesterday and a crystal tipped stilleto that i had to DE). almost hit friendly with cenarion circle, which means i almost have my awesome cloak. i also did my first AV with Scape and was in sixth place when i quit 'cause i wanted some dinner. cool.

my back hurts. pam and i redid the bedroom this weekend: sanding down the joint compound and laying down two coats of primer. the place looks pretty decent, now. but it was a pain in my ass for sure. also, looks like we're cat-sitting for the next month and a half. serena's cat Chairman Mao is with us and he's this hulking 19 pound black behemoth. The Party hates him, so i do too. stupid Mao. the justice league had a couple good shows and we played with this awesome manowar-ass speed metal band. it was pretty rad. Scape has been grinding cenarion circle rep, which is mind-alteringly boring. the rewards are great, though, so i'll see your ass in silithus.

justice league played at the brass cat and it went really well. work has been busy and i'm tired. um... not much else exciting going on. i bought a Scarlet Kris for Scape (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=35987) for 300g. sweet.

back from san diego, which was awesome. back at work, which sucks. i ordered season one of Tsubasa on thursday and it arrived on saturday. THANK YOU ANIMECRACK.COM! pam and i have been watching it and it fucking rules. the subtitling is a little iffy, but it's gonna be another year at least before they officially dub and release it in the states, so i really can't complain. it's incredibly faithful to the manga and mokona is the cutest thing ever. we've also been watching Haibane Renmei, which is surreal and laid back, kinda like a weirder Kino's Journey. while in san diego (well, mostly on the plane) i made made some cool song ideas out of found-sound sources. pitchshifting weird tones into a melody makes me happy. i picked up the new polysics album a little while ago and it kinda bummed me out. it's more friendly than before... and by that, i mean a lot less frantic and a lot more pop. not what i expected... in a bad way. the adult spelling bee is tomorrow and our costumes are really lame. it'd be hard to outdo last year's, but still...

well, i arrived safe and sound in san diego and things are going well. i've been drunk for two days straight but i've gone and sobered up now. we went to tijuana earlier and it was kinda depressing but pretty dope nonetheless. it's not as warm as i hoped but it's still warmer than massachusetts. more later...

i guess i'm now the music director at Meat For Tea. go figure. the justice league is trying to record an EP in the next week before we leave for san diego. good luck, us. some of my guildies are from san diego and they're gonna come out for our shows, supposedly. i hope they're not fat, sweaty nerds. wait...actually.... it's WAY funnier if they're fat, sweaty nerds. i hope they have sever lisps, too. i have to take The Party to the vet and ger her spayed soon. but i'm really lazy and i don't have a car right now. maybe i can do it myself. i know there was something else i was gonna mention, but i forget. suck it.

adam came over and we retooled the stuff we've been working on. we had a big page of notes and took care of most of it. everything sounds 100% better. which means it now sounds 300% better than anything in the history of everything. fuck you.

i got a shirt this weekend. actually, not A shirt, but probably THE SHIRT. arguably the best shirt in existence. vintage 70s iron-on style t-shirt that's just this giant bong in outer space, propelled by billowing weed smoke. at the top, in cartoony "70s-futuristic sci-fi" lettering, it just says 'BONG'. not "bongship," or "rocket bong" or anything 'clever' at all. just....BONG. maybe i'll post a pic soon, 'cause that description just doesn't do it justice. it is probably the coolest thing i have ever seen, done, or heard of.

NERD NEWS: finally got my heartseeker (41.5 dps, +4 str, +1% crit). fuck yeah! started a priest this past weekend, too. i've never played a healer before, in anything, EVER. it's kinda awesome. i like her way more than my hunter for sure. her name is Shierke. if there is anything more nerdy than naming your MMORPG toon after a manga character, i don't want to know about it.

pam has been really sick for a couple days now. my coworkers, too. i remain miraculously unscathed so far. Scape finally hit level sixty (/grats). worked on some rad new stuff with adam and read a lot of manga. i guess... that's about all i've been up to. busy busy.

    9:40 pm
played a couple shows. played a lot of warcraft. did a lot of coke. got my full stormshroud set and devilsaur gauntlets, plus half the mats for a heartseeker. finished up the edward collaboration disc and put in some work on the kozak disc. sounds fucking rad. read a SHIT TON of manga (new favorite is deathnote). took a bunch of pills. the party is doing well and she's taken to sleeping with pam and i recently, which is fucking adorable 'cause she climbs under the sheets with her little head poking out. *awwwww* i guess that's about it as far as updates go.

adam kozak made a myspace page for our collaboration. y'all could visit it and hear some rough mixes at http://www.myspace.com/cheatersdesign, if you wanted. and you should. the party is doing well, even though she's developed some weird kitty habits. she is so fucking adorable that i died. not much else to report, except for me getting my stormshroud gear finally. but no one wants to hear about that, right?

the beginning of the semester. for some of you, this is a time to find your school friends, compare schedules, and reacquaint yourselves with dorm life. this is because you are fucking faggots. for eon, the semester means that i am stuck working mad overtime selling coursepacks to retards and putting up with the same stupid questions all fucking day. my back hurts.

in other news: The Party is doing awesome. she's a total sweetheart and i love her to death. i started reading Planetes and it's the best manga i've picked up since xxxHolic. recording with adam kozak is going INCREDIBLY well and i'm gonna put up some of our new tracks on www.thecheatersclub.com, so go check them out because it's worth it, i promise. the new Cat Power CD is REALLY FUCKING GOOD. i love most of her catalogue, but this might blow it away. best thing since "what would the community think?" oh, i started a simple IRA plan at work, so 5% of my income is going to my retirement... i feel strange about that. i'm still only 24 and thinking about being 65 seems ridiculous. but i guess that's the responsible thing to do, and who really misses twenty dollars a week? i've also been working on this compilation disc for elizabeth's literary magazine project, Meat For Tea. it's one of those things that john peter signed me up for, so it's been a headache of bad planning and rushed deadlines. but it's almost done.

today i got a phone call at work from some guy who had heard my collaboration with edward on the radio and wanted a copy. i guess edward mentioned that i worked at paradise and this guy bothered to look me up. i was flattered, really. he asked if we were selling copies and i told him i'd just send him one for free. i should have told him it was like a $20 limited edition signed copy or something. *sigh*

in other, other news: you can suck a dick for all i care.

    NEW KITTEN!!!
so these people showed up at paradise trying to get rid of this adorable kitten. she is the sweetest, friendliest, quietest little thing in the world! needless to say, i took her. they had named her "Squeaker," which was voted "#1 Gayest Name For a Cat EVER" by Cat Lover Magazine.

now her name is The Party. say hello to the Party! Read more... )

okay, i'm back in northampton after a shitty fucking bus trip (three hours in south station is bullshit). i got Blue's Snowball condenser mic!!! FUCK YES! and a shure sm-58, which i don't actually own, believe it or not. also, i got a book on microphone techniques from pam and a subscription to EQ. my little sis got me a flask! we got a bunch of house stuff, too- nice glasses, SUPER PRETTY bowl/plate set, and a toolkit, which we really needed. um... i got pam a new sewing machine, the ultra-nerdy extended Lord of the Rings box set, and a shit-ton of manga (shutterbox, trigun maximum, kentaro miura's Japan, and Clamp: North Side). i got kindra a food processor and a wireless card for her laptop, i got my father a rad xm satellite radio kit, and mom got a centerpiece set from the artisan gallery. i also got them a really nice hand-carved stash box from the artisan gallery and al franken's new book. that's all i can remember right now.

work! sucks! the new year has been coming for almost twelve months now, people. why are you JUST NOW deciding to make calendars? and christmas cards? if you mail them tomorrow, they MIGHT be there for christmas. why make them AT ALL?! stupid people. and NO, you CAN'T have your color copies while you wait. that is final.

the misfits tribute went really well last night. i figured we would suck 'cause we only practiced once, but we pulled it off with charm. songs: bullet, skulls, hybrid moments, some kinda love. lately i've been really wanting a new tatto. how about a garfield on my arm with a thought balloon that says, "i don't do mondays." that'd be pretty rad. then, when i'm eighty, everyone at the nursing home will see me and just shake their heads. and my grandkids will be, like, "why is grandpa so weird and drunk? and who the fuck is that cat, anyway?"

i've been really fucking busy the past couple weeks. edward came over and dropped a poem over one of the more gothic tracks adam and i did. it sounds really fucking good and it's called "old new york city where i lay my head." we recorded some flute, too, which came out great. how the fuck are you supposed to mic a flute, anyway? i did it up close, slightly off-axis with a windscreen. i'm open to suggestions, though.

mostly, i've been working on new tracks: a guitar cut-up from the last john peter session, the new flute solo piece, and this FUCKING RAD guitar track that adam handed me on cd. it always takes me a while to listen to stuff people give me, but then i get inspired randomly and tear it up. in this case, he had given me three rough tracks and i'm in love with this one in particular. the sound of a squeaking fretboard sends shivers down my spine. like, in a good way.

other than music stuff...lots of christmas shopping. work has been really busy, too, so that's been keeping me late. i also started reading The Walking Dead, which is a pretty fucking radical zombie comic. i love me some zombies.
